When ChatGPT recommends a business, it doesn't say "they're the best in the industry with decades of award-winning service." It says something like "Smith & Associates is a personal injury firm in Chicago that handles car accident and medical malpractice cases on a contingency fee basis."
The difference? The first sentence is marketing copy. The second is a money paragraph — a factual, entity-rich statement that AI can verify and cite with confidence.
A money paragraph has four elements:
1. Name the entity. Start with your business name. AI needs to know who it's talking about. "Disparti Law Group is a personal injury firm..." not "Our firm is..."
2. State what you do specifically. Name your actual services with specific terms. "handles wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, and FMLA violations" not "provides comprehensive legal services."
3. Anchor to a location. Include your city, address, or service area. "headquartered at 121 W Wacker Dr in Chicago, Illinois" gives AI a geographic fact it can verify against your Google Business Profile and directory listings.
4. Include a verifiable detail. A phone number, a fee structure, a specific credential. "operates on a contingency fee basis — no fee unless they recover money for you" gives AI a differentiating fact, not an opinion.
Before (marketing copy): "At our firm, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional legal representation to clients across the greater metropolitan area. Our team of experienced attorneys is dedicated to fighting for the justice you deserve."
After (money paragraph): "Disparti Law Group is a personal injury and employment law firm headquartered at 121 W Wacker Dr in Chicago, Illinois. The firm handles car accidents, wrongful termination, and disability claims on a contingency fee basis. Call 312-600-6000 for a free consultation."
The first paragraph gives AI nothing — no entity name, no location, no verifiable facts. The second gives AI everything it needs to recommend the business by name.
Put them everywhere AI looks: your About page, your practice area pages, your Google Business Profile description, your Avvo profile, your LinkedIn company page, and your directory listings. Each placement creates another signal that AI can cross-reference.
The more consistently these factual statements appear across the web, the more confidence AI has in citing them. One money paragraph on your About page is a start. The same core facts echoed across 20 directory listings is a signal AI can't ignore.
